Gender equality: Test for Democracy

On the occasion of the National Day of Equal Opportunities between Women and Men, on May 8th, we organized a high-level conference at the Palace of the Parliament.

The conference “Gender equality: Test for democracy” was organized at the initiative of the Committees for Equal Opportunities for Women and Men of the General Assembly and the Senate. This was a meeting for national and international political leaders, competent authorities and activists for the cause of gender equality. One of the main objectives was recognizing the common responsibility of the legislative process. The request stems from the obligations undertaken by our country by ratifying the Istanbul Convention by the Romanian Parliament in March 2016.
